We’ve all heard that drinking water is the key to weight loss, right? There are actual scientific reasons behind this, though, it’s not just something health professionals say. Probably the most important thing is that water has 0 calories, making it healthier than absolutely anything else you could be drinking throughout the day. It also fills up your stomach, which will suppress your feelings to snack when you’re really not that hungry.

Some people have a really hard time committing to drinking enough water, though. It’s recommended that adults drink 8 8-ounce glasses of water a day, or at least 64 ounces of water. There are all sorts of ways to try to get your required amount of daily water in, though!

Herbal Tea

If you have a hard time drinking plain water, herbal or green tea is a great alternative so you’re still getting the 64 ounces that you need. As long as you don’t sweeten it, you won’t be getting very many calories from the tea, and you’ll also be getting extra antioxidants and vitamins from the tea.

Fruits and Vegetables

Not all fruits and vegetables were created equal, but some have a very high water content. These don’t count towards your necessary 64 daily ounces, but they help get a little extra water into your diet, which will keep the inches off of your waistline. A few things to try eating are:

-Melons(Watermelon, Cantaloupe, Honeydew)

-Strawberries, Raspberries, and Cranberries

-Grapefruit and Orange

-Peaches

-Pineapple

-Lettuce

-Cucumbers

-Celery

-Zucchini

-Radishes

Add fruit to your water

A lot of people say that they have an easier time drinking water if they infuse it with their favorite fruits first. You can easily just add your favorite fruits cut up straight to your water bottle every day, but there are also specific water bottles designed to infuse your water with fruit without getting fruit chunks when you’re trying to take a drink. You can also put the fruit into a pitcher of water and leave it in the fridge overnight, and then drink that throughout the day. Experiment with different fruits to find what you like best.

Add sparkling water to your juice

If you’re still finding yourself struggling to drink enough water, try cutting the sugary drinks you usually drink with some sparkling water. It will lower the calorie count, and help you transition into drinking less of these unhealthy drinks.
