Your wedding will likely be the most photographed event of your life, so it makes sense that you would want to put a great deal of effort into looking your very best. And with wedding season upon us, chances are you or someone you know is currently preparing for a wedding. In addition to the typical everyday measures you take to care for your skin and body, here are some essential tips to keep in mind as you prepare to look your absolute best on your wedding day.

Work on your fitness goals.

Of course, it’s always a good idea to do what you can (realistically) to tone yourself up just that much more before the big day. You’ll look more fit, and you’ll feel more confident—which will definitely shine through in your photos. They key here is to plan a few months ahead to give yourself time to see results. A healthy nutrition and exercise plan is a great start, but when stubborn fat simply won’t go, our exclusive at-home fat freezing kit can help you target problem areas.

Drink plenty of water the week leading up to your wedding.

Aim to drink at least half a gallon of water daily in the week leading up to your wedding. Doing so will promote well hydrated skin and a healthy glow from within. Check out our post on how to drink more water if you need a few tips on getting that extra hydration in.

Exfoliate your skin a few days before.

It’s also important to exfoliate the skin on your face and body thoroughly about five days before your wedding. This will remove any dry skin and dullness (and prepare your skin for a faux tan if you are getting one).

Consider a faux tan.

Many brides find that applying self tanner or getting a custom spray tan a couple days before the wedding makes a major difference in how they look and feel on their big day. A faux glow can even out your skin tone and even make you look more toned. Just be sure to do a trial run a few weeks before the wedding—you don’t want to have to deal with any unpleasant surprises the day of your wedding!

Get plenty of rest.

Finally, be sure to get plenty of rest during the week leading up to—and especially the night before—your wedding. Lack of sleep will only bring dark under-eye circles, improperly hydrated skin, and a dull, pale complexion. Adequate sleep will give you a healthy glow and make the process of getting ready the morning of your wedding run much more smoothly.
